In short, we are adamant about proper memory care. There are no short cuts.

Marketing plans, pretty brochures, and frilly curtains don't cut it when seen through the eyes of the memory loss Resident. It takes more...lots more.

Here's what we have done:

We realized years and years ago that even if you break up a building design into pods, corners, or small living areas, the Resident still sees it as one big bewildering building. You still have the sights and sounds of a large building, and that is the problem for the memory loss Resident.

FIRST, Sierra was designed for (12) Residents maximum.

We know from our experience of operating our other Homes for years with (14-20) Residents that buildings with (20), (40), or even (60) Residents is way, way too many folks in one building. The result is that often the facility either has to ask certain Residents to leave, or they just can't do a good job for the Residents, in addition to higher staff turnover as a result of these problems.

SECOND: Sierra is an original design.

We didn't just take a design that worked for assisted living Residents, move a wall or window and now it is for memory loss Residents. Not good enough. Blind hallways, large spaces, and lots of Residents are problems we avoided by design.

This keeps environmental problems to a minimum so we can accurately focus on the underlying disease process going on.

THIRD, we have a very, very unique and effective method for staffing Sierra.

There is almost no turnover because of it. This is critical! Only those that have been chosen to work there, do.

The RESULT?... We have never had to ask someone to leave because we couldn't care for their needs while nearly 100% of our Residents are referred to us.
